The solution to this is going to require wholesale institutional reforms that address the massively countermajoritarian bias in our legislative, electoral, and judicial institutions.
The biggest question in American politics right now is that even if Democrats manage to reseize the federal government in 2028, there is no concrete plan about what to do with the Republican Party that has made illiberalism and authoritarianism the foundation of its movement for the last decade.
