Do your taxes to see if you’re getting a refund - if so, cross your fingers that you actually receive it.

If you owe money, file Form 4868 to automatically extend your deadline to October 15.

Then fight like hell for the next six months.

Would the fraudulent statement in the IRS letter and the flag raised by the IRS attorney extend the government's liability in mass fittings at other agencies where "poor performance" was falsely claimed?
In the hours before IRS leadership fired some 7,000 employees for allegedly poor performance, a top IRS lawyer flagged officials that “no one” at the agency had done such an assessment.

The termination notice went out unchanged anyway.

There has been an implicit agreement between the IRS and undocumented migrants that they can pay their taxes without fear. Many undocumented migrants do so, in part so they can apply for citizenship/visas in the future. Now that trust is going to be abused to potentially deport millions of people.

On projected revenue:

To put $500 billion in context, the US spent ~$825 billion on the Defense Department in fiscal 2024.

The current tax gap is $700 billion. Think about almost doubling the tax gap in a single year.
🚨 Big SCOOP 🚨

Tax revenue could fall by as much as **10%** this year, per sources, as taxpayers and businesses see the Trump admin as less likely to challenge tax cheats.

That'd be **$500 BILLION** in lost revenue.

It'd nearly double the tax gap in a single year.
