At the hockey. Sad to report no goals yet and nobody kissed.

I often think about the time we sold our old vinyl collection because „everything is on CD anyway“, and the records and record player needed so much more space. Now I wish I still had all of them (most of them).

Vinyl records are popular again, but it's not just audiophiles or nostalgic boomers fueling the resurgence.

Gen Z is playing an outsized role in the revival of vinyl sales, which have grown on average by 18% annually in the past five years.

Can someone please inform the tech giants that no one wants an AI-assisted experience on every single app, but everyone NEEDS drinking water and a habitable planet. 🙏

In town today an emergency service was collecting donations for their S&R dog team. With the dogs present of course. Lots of people stopped to chat and pet. Guy with an enormously chunky bulldog came, looked at the sleek emergency dogs and said to his dog: search and rescue, just look at them.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

A thoroughly entertaining Bronze Final comes to a close with the Black Ferns running out 42-26 winners over France.

A spirited fight back from the French, but New Zealand just to strong in the end.

Just finished this book and love it so much 😍 My favourite of the year!
My latest book An Academic Affair is now out in the UK! This is the first of my books to get a proper print release there (exciting!). I hope you enjoy reading about my totally-only-getting-married-on-paper rival academics as much as I did writing them. www.simonandschuster.co.uk/books/An-Aca...

Gaza | The scale of human suffering and the stripping of human dignity have long exceeded every acceptable standard, both legal and moral.

This tragedy must end now.

Carrying around real books instead of a Kobo or other e-reader has one advantage: much nicer „I am reading at the beach“-pictures.

Oslo, so far, seems like what would happen if you designed a city entirely for competent introverts. As an incompetent introvert, it is both lovely and a trifle daunting.

🧵 36 years after the Tiananmen Square massacre, the Chinese and Hong Kong governments continue their efforts to rewrite history through censorship, including any mention of Tiananmen, and suppression of those who speak out.

To remember, read, and write is resistance.

A major clue to decide if the author of a book set in the UK is actually British or American (if you don’t know) is the quantity of tea consumed. 40% into the newest KJ Charles book and every single interaction between the MCs starts with them offering, drinking or refusing tea. Rings very true.

I’m utterly convinced that the Hong Kong pics are both fake…
I got 10/10 on this. When it's a matter of directly comparing a real picture to a fake one...the fake ones look fake! Shiny and perfect and glossy.

Less easy when it's not a direct comparison obv, but in general, if it looks too good to be true...

I’ve been rereading Kat Latham‘s London Legends series for the Rugby World Cup but it somehow failed to prepare me to understand anything going on in this semifinal.

Boosting this, and paging #romancelandia. Y'all can fundraise anything and I'm hoping we can get a few more books, maybe even get up to 100, until our long reading night at the beginning of October.

Thank you all, please share and help out if you can ❤️
Hey friends, for once I'm cross posting from Twitter to share something I need help with.

As you might know I'm a social worker and just opened a youth center I'm running on my own in the middle of nowhere in Germany.

And I have a wishlist full of books my kids and teens want and should read.
