Conflicts affect all, but persons with disabilities face unique risks.

Accessible shelters, evacuation plans, and aid aren't just legal obligations; they are humanitarian imperatives.

Parties to armed conflicts must respect and protect people with disabilities.

The laws of war are not meant to exist only on paper; they must be enforced to save lives.

Intentionally attacking civilians or civilian property, such as homes, is not allowed.

Even wars have limits.

📍 Nigeria | For years, families like Yagana’s in the Aburi displacement camp endured long queues and exhausting walks just to fetch water.

Migrants often find themselves in places where the language is unfamiliar.

Warnings are hard to read. Help is hard to reach.

Civilians must be protected, wherever they go.

Armed conflict forces millions to flee, including across borders. But migrants can also get caught in conflict and violence along their journeys.

Respecting the rules of war is crucial to protecting civilians, including migrants, during armed conflicts.

When densely populated areas are attacked, civilians are the ones who suffer the most.

Did you know that when wars are fought in cities, an estimated 90% of the casualties are civilians?

Even wars have limits.

Our Pantone color of the year will always be red. Its use was officially adopted in 1864, when the Red Cross was established as a neutral emblem to protect medical staff & facilities on the battlefield.

The Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems are symbols of hope. They must be protected & respected.
December 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM
Every year, armed conflicts, violence, disasters & migration split up countless families.

Together with the Red Cross & Red Crescent national societies worldwide, we work to prevent family separation & restore contact among separated family members.

Instead of playing or learning, countless children caught in armed conflict are forced to watch their kindergartens, schools, and homes come under attack, losing everything familiar to them.

No child deserves to grow up in such conditions, and no parent should ever have to witness it.

True generosity isn’t measured by how much we have, but by how much we’re willing to give.

Happy Volunteers’ Day to all who serve with compassion and dedication, especially to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement volunteers ♥️
