I was also thinking about doing a thread with all the books I read this year, so maybe I can start that before going to bed.

Okay, let's see.

Books I've read in 2025
Mr M has been doing his new job for a few weeks now & tomorrow is grand opening day for the store he and his team have been racing to finish and get ready all week. I'm excited and nervous for him and also glad that hopefully starting next week i get to see my husband for more than an hour a day.

Listen, I also didn't think I was actually old but when I visited my former youth center, one of the kids I worked with for years showed up with her kid and another one drove up on a motorcycle while a third one told me he'll be 27 this year and I swear my soul left my body for a second. 😂
My husband is officially "children of the kids I taught are in my classes" old and I gotta be real I do not feel like we are that old, but since Donna's elder kiddo is like a year younger than we were when we got engaged, maybe we are in fact that old.

Idek what counts as a woke opinion anymore. But if we're going for the opinions that get me the most WTFs in regular company it's probably abolishing prisons, opening all borders, making it illegal to own more than 1 billion dollars, universal basic income & outlawing the inheritance of companies.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I'm really struggling hard at work, but on the plus side Libby and chronical illness have me going really fucking strong on this HRCYED thing and I'm just enormously pleased with how my bingo is looking after ~4 months. Look at me go and be happy about inconsequential stuff. 😌

Look at this beauty!!!!
Maybe you'd like to see the amazing cover for WORLD'S OKAYEST ORACLE (RELUCTANTLY) SEEKS DEMON, my book about an infamously underpowered oracle saving the world alongside the uptight demon who helped ruin her life 20 years ago?

Happy Thursday! Almost through the week. We're still sitting still at $1473 short of the goal of paying November's overdue bills. I keep vascillating between real scared and just numb. It's been a hard year.

Thank you so much for all your help! Remember even just sharing this can make a difference.
I was just laid off for the second time this year. It's going to be a hard fall and winter. My safety net, as is the case for too many of us especially these days, is the kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. Anything helps.

I think the saddest thing is that I didn't expect anything else and that I've already seen the first dismissive "We all know GR choice awards are problematic, they always have been, so"s.

I agree, they have been a shit show for as long as I can remember. I also don't think that makes it better?!
Imo the GR choice awards are especially ugly this year, with the HP audiobook as the fuck-you cherry on top of a pretty shitty cake.

I was just laid off for the second time this year. I have applications out there and I apply more every day. It's just a real shit time to be unemployed.

Boosting for Gin because these are hella precarious times, especially to be unexpectedly out of work.

Make sure your needs are met, give to #MutualAid where you can, and see how you can help others in your area.

It is really hard some days to convince myself to go to sleep so I can get up in the morning to do my job well when the last 10 years have been a constant exalting cycle of people with power & money doing absolutely everything to objectively make life worse for everyone who's not them.

I finished my Encanto puzzle and I wish I had the space to do another one and I also wish I could drink a glass of wine while thinking of Melinda and being grateful for the privilege of having known her.

I do still dream about one day being able to walk into a Barnes & Noble and shop for books. I've never been and I'm sure it isn't the biggest thing to ever dream of, but it's just one of those things I wish for some day. Just once. I'd also shop indie afterwards, but yeah. Just once.

I love the Third Gilmore Girl audiobook a lot and I've been sitting here, listening to it while playing around with a new puzzle and it's a very peaceful night here with the cat and Mr M watching Let's Plays.

In other news over 1000 people so far have sued the German Chancellor for his racist remarks during a press conference. I'm not a legal expert so I'm really not sure how this will go but I do think it's a remarkable sign that our head of state is getting sued for incitement of the masses.

I'm very happy that Spiritbox with Soft Spine got nominated for best Metal Performance for the Grammys. Not that I actually watch the Grammys but I love Soft Spine so this feels right to me.

Oh I don't know if I can finish this book. I already tried it in audio, absolutely couldn't do that. I have the ebook from the library but so far... None of this is working for me. I've heard that this is not the most popular Miss Nora book and it is a 1990 release, so I was somewhat prepared.

I'm currently listening to a book that was marketed as a holiday romcom and I'm again saddened & angry on behalf of the book bc this is such a disservice to the story and it's reflected in the reviews.

This book is a lovely story about two women trying to find their way in life bc they're unhappy.

My city has been preparing for probably the biggest budget cut across the board regarding social services, social security & civic infrastructure of the last 15 yrs but also announced today that they spent over 700k on a new logo & a city specific font for all their websites & platforms.

I can't.
