I was also thinking about doing a thread with all the books I read this year, so maybe I can start that before going to bed.

Okay, let's see.

Books I've read in 2025
Also I didn't imagine Pedro being right there, right?

I can't wait for the same ppl who were 'disappointed' last year to be more disappointed this year after Green Day is done. I don't understand why ppl truly believe there's such a thing as protesting anything at an NFL game. Least of all on your tv screen.

You do remember who the NFL is, yeah?

I'm not reading that trash panda article, I don't need more grifter bs in my life. I have however read a new article over here discussing a flood of ai-generated "celebrity biographies" on amz that are clearly scams and also filled to the brim with wrong information & non-existent family members.

I fucking love Emma Aicher. Her authenticity, the way she makes noises instead of responding to questions she doesn't have a good answer for, the shoulder shrugs and looks all a language of its own. I love watching her interviews.

If you haven't already, February would be a fantastic time to read up on George Herriman, creator of Krazy Kat, one of the most famous and influential early comic strips, and lauded by the likes of Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes).

Well, there goes my sleep I guess. Also today in straight ppl are fucking unhinged: My favorite headline of the day might have been "Public Prosecutor's office redacts statement regarding allegedly fugitive bisexual referee".

Some shit you really, really can't make up.

🧵 for any FIYAH authors with published story files/summaries appearing on The Writing Atlas. We weren't involved with this curation (and presumable theft) and are taking steps to protect your work.
Distraught, enraged, and tired. An author cc’d @fiyahlitmag on an email to The Writing Atlas, a site dedicated to “cataloging short stories.” There are 130 FIYAH stories listed with (presumably) AI summaries. Some have LINKS to a Dropbox folder. Our issues aren’t publicly available for scraping.

This one has been on my mind again a lot today.

I was discussing the Epstein files with the teens & how they're coping. During the conversation one of them asked me how many cases of sexualized violence I've had on my desk in my career so far.

And I needed to think about it.
I can't talk about anymore online things today, so let me ramble a bit about social work.

In a recent video Kim Young said something that's been sticking with me. Well, several things.

But the main one was "I don't believe that anyone was created to remain this proximate to pain and suffering."

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work."

“Leave things better than you found them! “
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

“The professional standard is clean, dry hands, and has been for all of this century.”

Oh well, they've found a sport psychologist willing to argue publicly that boycotting the world cup wouldn't have an effect. Instead, we should all go back to focusing on the unifying aspect of sports and like... It must've been hard as hell to find a dude locked up in an ivory tower THAT high.

Every time somebody talks about Shelter and then says Statham my brain glitches bc in my world there's only one movie called Shelter and Jason Statham was neither the surfer boy figuring out sexuality, nor the best friend's older brother he ended up falling in love with.

I'm so immensely irritated by the fact that an organization that punishes political statements because "spirit of unity" then let's a local committee decide to have the most dragged apart Olympic games & use up to four places so that parts of every country's team can walk "in" during the ceremony.

"Well, I didn't see our chancellor in the Epstein files!"

That's nice. My dude, Friedrich Merz was one of the infamous officials who voted against declaring rale within marriage a crime in 1997. When he was asked about it in 2022, he said he wasn't against it being a crime, just a specific clause.

Are you in need of a sweet and simple story? I got one for you.

Over 10 years ago now, one of the first trips my best friend, Mr M & I went on together was to this small medieval fair in our city. Once there, we got talking with one of the vendors who had a snack booth full of all natural treats.
