this has got to stop
this is just a couple "normal" months in the San Francisco Bay Area, where most violent crimes are committed by violent drivers and also, cops and cities don't enforce laws against driver violence.

And drivers in other cities/states are *even more violent*!!!

What the...
Drivers in @sandiego are completely out of control. An uber driver almost hit my wife on Saturday coming back from Ride the Point. He was trying to use the bike lane on Harbor Dr to skip traffic.
Holy shit dude how did this driver get on the Perishing bikeway??

Hostile to Pedestrians = You could die

"Hostile to cars" = Your ego might be bruised a bit by not having 100% of all available space reserved for you
I went out to the East San Diego County road where the Trump administration revoked a $1.165 million safety grant because they thought the project was "hostile to motor vehicles."

After walking around there, it was clear the current design is hostile to *pedestrians.*

East County community disappointed after Trump revokes road safety grant deemed 'hostile' to cars
The Department of Transportation has canceled hundreds of grants that run counter to its goal of "preserving or increasing roadway capacity for motor vehicles."

Great walk today at the McAlister Walk for Sobriety. Amazing to think about the lives saved by the McAlister Institute over the years. Such critical work in San Diego helping those suffering from addiction.

Ride up the coast to Tamarack State Beach and it was a gorgeous day today. Just a little sweaty. Had great conversations with happy cyclists too.

I often do not sleep. But more and more, I cannot sleep.

I cannot close my eyes without seeing emaciated infants, starving children, and parents holding the lifeless bodies of their babies.

It has to stop.

I shared my thoughts and feelings in a new piece here: mysandiego.info/times
Opinion: As a father, Jew and councilmember, I'm appalled by brutality in Gaza
To be Jewish is to inherit a history of unimaginable pain — but also a mandate for justice. To me, “never again” must mean never again for anyone.

Visibility seems important
"drivers had 58 percent less forward visibility in some modern SUVs compared with their older counterparts, a decrease that they largely blame on higher hoods and larger side mirrors"
