I post about my feelings of grief, rage, and fear often but I want to remember these words of Mike Davis tonight:

Fight with hope, fight without hope, but fight absolutely.

This to me is how I prevent despair. Even if I see no cause for hope I fight because there is a chance.

I feel shame every day about my feelings of powerlessness re: ending the genocide in Gaza. I am happy for people of Lebanon there will be ceasefire there but terrified for Palestine

I am really struggling today to balance the love I feel for old friends and the rage I feel about their "progressive except for Palestine" politics. These friendships were never based on politics, they're not close any longer, but I am losing my ability to even fake it.

Woke up today seething with anger about friends and family’s indifference to US support of genocide. Stomach in knots. I know this is not productive but it is how I feel.

1/ Since our story with PBS NewsHour came out last month, comments flooded into Polk County Sheriff’s social feed demanding consequences for Det. Melissa Turnage, who sought criminal charges against Taylor Cadle for lying. We recently learned she was disciplined after we started asking questions.
Police didn’t believe a 12-year-old who said she'd been raped. Then she hit record.

I am very over people acting like the true statement that people should not face social bigotry for being fat therefore means there are no physical problems associated with fatness. Yes! There are!! My health sucks ass!!! That's why I want to be less fat!!!!

Ever since The Nib ceased publication, I've been missing that quarterly does of thoughtful, deeply felt non-fiction comic storytelling. This, a story about baby monitors and also about parenting in an age of abundant data, hits that feeling perfectly www.theverge.com/c/24278723/c...

The best bagel sandwich - imho - is *cream cheese*, NOT American cheese, a runny egg, tomato, and bacon.

Anytime I advocate for better covid mitigations - people assume I want to lock them in their homes forever.

In reality we could drastically limit covid transmission with the following:

- Masks in healthcare
- Clean air in public spaces
- Free vaccines, tests & respirators
- Paid time off

Read about a hundred pages on Weimar democracy from Richard Evans’ Coming of the Third Reich and I am once again envious of their cultural efflorescence. They got Bauhaus and Brecht, we have AI art and Cybertrucks

Hey @aoc.bsky.social - voted for you a couple of times, volunteered for your office to talk to people in Woodside after Hurricane Ida. Why did you just vote to institutionalize the IHRA definition of anti-semitism?

This is simply not true lol, Hillary 2016 explicitly counterposed identity politics to economic populism and people still do this!

He's not on here so I can say this - my brother, erstwhile social democrat, precarious academic, and paper DSA member has been teaching a class on Marxism at a liberal arts college and says he radicalized himself while teaching Bernstein, Kautsky, Luxemburg, and Lenin - he's team Lenin/Luxemburg lol
