He was a nurse. He was killed. And this is the official response? Blame the city, not the agents? Shameful
Absolutely shameful to throw your employee under the bus when they’re murdered, but that’s what happens when you’re in the dumbest cult of personality in the history of the world

Leadership is not just about policy, it's about companionship. Zohran wasn't giving a speech, he was shoveling snow. Respect

They feared for their lives’, but who fears the system? In California, we’ve seen this playbook before. It’s time to rewrite it
DOOCY: If he was disarmed, is it protocol to use deadly force?

KRISTI NOEM: That's all part of this investigation. They clearly feared for their lives.

This is not the past. This is the pattern
The paradox of the current moment is that while none of this is normal, it is also not extraordinary. It is the country in which we live, and we are not going back to a previous era. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/we-c...
We cannot be nostalgic for the United States
The United States is no longer a steady ally and a trusted global power — but an unstable volcano ready to erupt.

Those House Dems who voted for the new DHS funding just got the limbs sawed off that they were perched on.

When grief is weaponized, justice gets distorted
Bovino: "How about our victim of the day, a victim at the hand of illegal alien criminals, these same criminals that we are taking off the streets. This victim was Rachel Morin. She's separated permanently from her 5 children."

When food aid becomes a trap, enforcement isn’t just cruel, it’s calculated
There is no level to which these heartless shit-for-brains won’t stoop to inflict cruelty and suffering.

When members of his own chamber are saying this out loud, it’s not “media spin.” It’s concern
McGovern: Well, he said a lot of crazy shit today. I think it’s time to take the keys away from grandpa. He doesn’t seem like he’s all there.

Using subpoenas against state officials over encourage policy disagreements is troubling. The justice system should not be a political tool
Federal prosecutors have targeted at least five Minnesota Democrats — including Gov. Tim Walz — with grand jury subpoenas, escalating the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) highly political investigation into state officials over their opposition to President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration raids.
DOJ subpoenas Minnesota Democrats who opposed federal immigration raids
It's seeking documents related to the officials’ policies on immigration enforcement efforts in the state.

Using the justice system as a personal weapon crosses a serious line. This is not how a democracy works

This is exactly why the Fed is supposed to be independent. Monetary policy should not depend on personal threats or pressure
KERNEN: Let's say Powell decides to stay on Fed. That could create a group of four people--

Global stability used to be a shared goal. Now it’s a bargaining chip
Would be amazing if European leaders would also start throwing out truth bombs like this. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

96% of the pain. 4% of the point. That’s not strategy, it’s self-inflicted inflation
Just as everyone predicted with the exception of Donald Trump, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Kevin Hassett. The last 3 knew they’ve been lying, not sure with Orange Caligula because he’s a moron and a liar so in his case it could be either one or both.

When “enforcement” feels like stalking, and neighbors vanish without warning, it’s time to name the harm
I am not exaggerating when I say ICE functions as a terrorist organization in the Twin Cities. The goal seems to be to harass and frighten people (the ones who are lucky enough to not be abducted, at least) and it's deeply unsettling when you learn they're in your neighborhood.

Democracy doesn’t die in darkness, it’s dismantled in daylight by alliances we refuse to name
Voter data lawsuits, political prosecutions, media capture, and institutional failure threaten democracy. Democracy’s survival now depends on grassroots activism, independent media, nonprofit legal organizations and a growing pro-democracy opposition movement.

When leadership avoids the hard questions, policy becomes performance, and health becomes collateral
"When it comes time to produce something vaguely resembling a policy blueprint, Trump steps aside & the right-wing ideologues who surround him take over. His only job is to record a brief video, try to stay awake through a White House event on the subject, & then go back to not talking about it."
Trump's long-awaited healthcare "plan" is a joke
