Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

Read the Jimmy Kimmel Monologue That Led to an FCC Crackdown
The comedian condemned Kirk's murder and called it "monstrous." That wasn't enough. He had to mourn correctly or lose his show.

I’ve seen arguments that the fascists don’t need a reason to use the power of the state to punish their political opponents. I disagree strongly with this sentiment. Public opinion absolutely matters. They can and will get away with more attacks if people buy into their lies about collective guilt.

This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

Unlike most government officials, Cook's salary isn't paid out by the Treasury. The Fed is self-financing, it turns a profit and is authorized by law to use that to pay its expenses.

If they just keep paying her, and continue to let her participate, it's not even clear what he could do about that.

I'll add: the book is special and worth reading, but if you're more of an audiobook person, it's probably the best audiobook I've ever listened to. the first person perspective/diary aspect of the story (and the great voice actor!) really lends itself to the format. phenomenal. highly recommend
imho The Remains of the Day is one of the best things I've read for understanding modern politics. It's obviously all very attenuated given the actual subject matter, but the book paints such a clear picture of a certain type of guy who I think is just omnipresent in our current governing elite

History will look upon the lost interregnum as an era when the hard work of preventing a return of Trump to power after the violent failed coup was seen as already done, and that every action to secure democracy was treated by the administration as unwarranted provocation rather than vital medicine

I'm not kidding about this, a DOJ that trotted out a new scammer, CEO, or corrupt politician every month that they are prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law, would, I suspect, keep the president's approval ratings in the stratosphere. especially once the convictions or pleas roll in
"we will take the people who make your phone unusable by calling 12 times a day and hang them in the town square" would win 70% of the vote
I think Democrats should offer voters a broadly defined anti-fraud platform. Yes, obviously, start with Trump’s influence peddling, but don’t stop there. Online fraud is massive, almost every phone call you get is a scam, and the solution has to be federal or it just won’t work.

I not only think we should tear down Confederate monuments, but we should replace them monuments to the Union Army with the explicit mention of how virtuous it was to wage war against traitors and slavers.
