My three-year-old was reading the Washington Post when she turned to me gravely and asked “Daddy, why did the funny drinking man murder the Venezuelans on the boat?” And when I told her “Because we need more lethality, less legality,” she started crying.

Beginning tomorrow, December 1, Chicago’s overnight parking ban will be in effect on 107 miles of main streets daily from 3-7am until April 1.

More streets have parking bans any time 2 inches+ of snow accumulates.

Be mindful of posted signage to avoid getting towed! ⬇️

REPORTER: What do the Somalians have to do with this Afghan guy who shot the National Guard members?

TRUMP: Ah, nothing. But Somalians have caused a lot of trouble. They're ripping us off.

Listened to this while I cleaned dishes in advance of tomorrow. Recommend you do the same.
Jonathan Chait on something I’ve noticed: that when you look for a defense on conservative media of many of the President’s actions… you find… nothing.

Residents of the Loop, Chicago’s downtown area, live on average until they are 87. In the West Garfield Park neighborhood, the average is 67. (via @wbez.org)
There’s a 20-year life expectancy gap in Chicago. Many of these deaths are preventable.
West Garfield Park residents are expected to live on average until 67 years old, compared to Loop residents living to age 87. This is widest death gap in Chicago and the biggest gap of any big U.S. city, the most recent data shows.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

@jamespmanley.bsky.social we were told last week by the guy in charge of the NIH grants my company has used that there’s no funding for SBIR/STTR grants for FY26. They haven’t posted yet (usually post Oct) and his email said there’s no funding for 26. Trump hates small businesses.

The company I work for has received a few SBIR grants through HHS. Under the Trump admin and the R Congress, there’s no funding for SBIR/STTR grants for this current FY. My job is now in jeopardy as I work on the grants. Trump hates small businesses.

Long story: dad sold his ‘58 triumph TR3 to pay for my P’s honeymoon. Mom bought dad a ‘58 TR3 for his 50th bday. P’s died. Nephew has car via his mom(my sis). Think I’m giving him for Xmas the same vanity plate my dad had - it’s a play on an old tv show. Nephew turning 30. Hope he likes it.
