Several renowned Czech filmmakers died recently, but the passing of Václav Vorlíček (1930-2019) garnered far less international attention than that of Miloš Forman or Jiří Menzel. They all made superb comedies, but Forman and Menzel were part of the Western arthouse-friendly Czechoslovak New Wave.
