2 trips in 3 weeks!

Will be in China next week to talk about clean power R&D at the Mission Innovation Green Power Innovation Conference (GPIC-3). Will have a roundtable discussion with Nature journals too! 🤓

Dressing *smart* to represent the UK at the 30th Executive Committee meeting of ISGAN - the International #SmartGrid Action Network - in Dublin last week 🇮🇪

19 of 27 member countries came together to discuss global collaboration on the fundamental R&D needed for our future electricity systems ⚡💡

Not according to the Birmingham city centre which started the construction of the German Christmas Market on October 1st, and it'll finished within days 🙃

Bah humbug 😠 (until December)
I, for one, welcome the increased commercialisation of Halloween in Britain, as it at least acts as a firewall to stop retailers jamming Christmas down our throats in October.

Does everyone *actually* hate the new Taylor Swift album? Or are people just being haters for the sake of the algorithm, to drive traffic towards their pick-me "content"?

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Developing countries lead the historic clean energy charge but the US and EU rely more on fossil fuels than before, a think tank study shows.

Maybe blame the corporations that contribute SIGNIFICANTLY more to climate change than any individual rather than blaming life-saving medications people need to BREATHE!

Fuck ALL THE WAY off with this bullshit.

You ever go out to a pub/club and get the impression the DJ is actively trying to make the patrons leave?
That's happened to me & my friends the last 2 Fridays in a row in the same place.

Probably never going back 🙃

Went to see Lewis Capaldi in Birmingham the other night and the best video is this one of him messing up the lyrics 🤣

It sometimes bugs me that "Greenhouse Gas" is given the acronym "GHG". It's not Green House Gas...

But then I remember that POSYTYF exists 🥴

There will also be a roundtable discussion with some folks over at Nature, including @natenergy.nature.com and @natrevcleantech.nature.com

Should be super interesting! 🤓
I'll be heading to China next month to attend the joint Green Power Innovation Conference and Applied Energy Symposium. Many academics and policy folks will be there to discuss advancements in clean energy R&D.

Going to Dublin (4 days) and China (5 days + travel time) for work next month, with 1 week in between, and I'm tired just thinking about this 😭

I can never sleep on planes 😢

I hear this all the time when people try to "sell" cricket.

If your selling point of the sport is the drinking and a load of other stuff that *isn't* watching, then that is quite literally the opposite of a spectator sport.

I'll stick to *watching* football and rugby, thanks very much.
Cricket is, by far, the best spectator sport. It's basically just a beer garden with sport happening somewhere in the background. Watch, don't watch, have a stroll around, eat, talk, it doesn't matter. A brilliant day out.

THIS

THISSSSSSSS

The main street in Birmingham is an auditory (and visual) hellhole! 😣
Street performing, public speaking or preaching are all fine as long as no amplification is involved. Microphones and amps are for increading the volume of sound that people paid to hear or at least wanted to hear. Go acoustic or piss off.

I go to pub quizzes with friends regularly, and every single time a 'science and nature' round comes up, without fail, they turn and look at me.
I'm tired of explaining that I don't have a PhD in THE ENTIRETY OF SCIENCE. It's not even all of chemistry 😭
👇 All of this 👇
Ons thing that's really bugging me about the "PhD level intelligence" is that a PhD isn't a measure of intelligence, it's a measure of commitment to study and specialisation in a narrow field (and opportunity to do so).

"PhD level intelligence" isn't really a meaningful phrase
