"We also understand that despite the change in recommendations from HHS, the science has not changed."
🔥🔥🔥
acog.org ACOG @acog.org · May 27
ACOG is deeply disappointed by HHS’s move to drop COVID-19 vaccine recommendations in pregnancy. The science is clear: COVID-19 remains dangerous in pregnancy and vaccination protects both patients and newborns. The vaccine is safe and protects families. Read our full statement: buff.ly/OGue7sO

I'm just fuming right now.
They are totally coming for all the vaccines. So much needless suffering and death. ☹️

If you're wondering what to say in your comment, consider pointing out that the FDA assesses drugs for safety and efficacy.

Saying that something is safe for 65 and older and people with preexisting conditions but not healthy adults makes no sense.

And if it's efficacious, then it's efficacious.

What the hell is wrong with @nejm.org? Do they think this is sound public policy? It's not just letting Prasad and Makary speak because they are now federal officials. It's giving them the cover of publication in one of our nation's oldest medical journals. www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....
An Evidence-Based Approach to Covid-19 Vaccination | NEJM
This article from the FDA compares broad U.S. recommendations on Covid vaccination with those from other countries and announces the adoption of an evidence-based approach to such recommendations.

This is why our family continues to mask. A 1/20 risk per reinfection is NOT low.

If these parameters were inserted into an engineering design risk matrix, mitigation would be required.
Study suggests COVID-19 reinfections less likely to cause long COVID

The risk of long COVID was two to three times higher after the initial infection (14.8%) than after first (5.8%) or second (5.3%) reinfections.

Well that's the nail in the coffin, then.
The FDA names Dr. Vinay Prasad — a hematologist-oncologist who has been accused of spreading misinformation about Covid vaccines and was an outspoken critic of the agency’s decision to approve Covid shots in children — as its new vaccine chief.

Chaperoned my kid's field trip earlier this week. Another chaperone, visibly worried, asked me if my mask was due to me "experiencing sickness." Pretty rich, considering her child was coughing/sniffling (maskless) all over the place.

I've had it up to here with healthcare workers who insist that "masks don't work." GTFO of healthcare if you can't accept that masks an infection control tool. Do they think the construction industry, military, etc. are all just a bunch of morons who wear respirators for kicks?

Some jerk just took a picture of me at a red light. Because I'm wearing a mask, alone, in my car.

1) I'm driving between stores, asshole.

2) It's winter. N95 >> scarf.

Language is important - especially for journalists. Just like the term "vaccine skeptic" does not adequately convey the dangerous antivax nonsense spouted by RFK, "reckless" doesn't go far enough.
