For the life of me I can't figure out who buys celebrity-written kids' books, but if you go into a Barnes and Noble it's a high percentage of all books. This is especially true of picture books, which are meant for the audience least likely to give a shit that the author is on TV or good at sports.

I'm on a lot of theatre email lists and one thing that CONSTANTLY amazes me is how hostile new show announcements are to non-traditional theatre types like me.

It's always "A new production of X!!! Starring Y and Z!!!"

And I'm like: That's cool but maybe tell me what the play is actually about?
