Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Our editorial stance is kidnappings are bad. This is not Real Journalism because it's important to be neutral about atrocities
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

Heated up a saucepot, peeled a mandarin orange & seared one side of the segments, then I used a chef's knife to peel some thick flakes of frozen ginger and tossed ≈1/4 cup in. Just before all that started to burn I tossed in a splash of water, took that to a boil, finished with a cup of apple cider.

Anecdotally: ICE is apparently running the plates of cars that are following them in our neighborhood and leading the caravan of my angry neighbors to their own houses in a sort or “we know where you live” vague threat. We think they are running plates and picking houses that are close by.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
