Here to chat clean energy, local news, and basketball, and cheer for underachieving Minnesota sports teams.

I work for a renewable energy co-op (Cooperative Energy Futures) and co-founded a local news org (@minneapolisvoices.bsky.social).
And eat he did. What a menace.

He is just Good At Basketball and a total try hard and it is exactly what this team needs

Well yes exactly!

Haven’t the early results from other cities showed them to be quite a bit safer than human drivers at urban driving?

Minnesota has one of the strongest, most carefully regulated systems in the country to allow the sale of hemp products like THC beverages.

This ban just needlessly screws everything up while hurting our breweries.

Pretty sure I saw that guy on Peacock. That’s as sad as it gets.

I think something like this, combined with reminding people who has been in charge while the staffing levels fell as low as they did, would've work pretty well among most of the western edge of the city from top to bottom. bsky.app/profile/wedg...
Frey's 2017 campaign against incumbent Mayor Betsy Hodges: "The police report exclusively to the chief, and the chief reports exclusively to the mayor."

Frey's 2025 campaign for a third term: Ugh, this city council right?

Imo, I think a candidate making this the center of their campaign could've won and nobody really tried it.

A win is a win and when you win you get to dance a little bit, but 58% of people telling an incumbent they want something new is really not an endorsement of your leadership or performance. A bit of humility from all of the political factions in Minneapolis would go a long way.

I thought David made an excellent point about this below, which is that Nezhad voters were very focused on anti-Frey ranking last time and other candidates were less so. I’m expecting the same.

Here's what happened last time. Nezhad voters were pretty disciplined, all told. Supporters of more minor candidates weren't; many were exhausted or ranked Frey.

Maybe directionally but I can think of a few exceptions (Ilhan won ward 4 and 5, and only a couple years ago we had both Cunningham and Jeremiah)

I know the exact blocks you speak of and they tricked me about how many votes he’d get!

One other interesting thing happening in Minneapolis - the most racially diverse parts of the city appear to have politically decoupled from one another.

Best three Davis precincts were Ward 2 Precinct 8, Ward 12 Precinct 1, and Ward 9 Precinct 9.

Best three Hampton precincts were Ward 11 Precinct 11, Ward 11 Precinct 10, and Ward 8 Precinct 4.

He also finished 2nd in Ward 13, and Frey will probably book a lot of those votes
November 5, 2025 at 4:44 AM
Frey also won the Northside again:

WARD 4
Frey 45%
Fateh 27%
Davis 13%
Hampton 9%

WARD 5
Frey 42%
Fateh 35%
Davis 11%
Hampton 8%
