Good Lord Almighty. I came back to comics thru highbrow, nonfic stuff like March. How DARE superhero comics be this INSANELY and PROFOUNDLY good. @denizcamp.bsky.social and @javierrodriguez.bsky.social are incredible. Gut wrenching writing speaks to pain of our times, Javi's art is a playground.

Daaaaaang. This two-part story reuniting @kellythompson.bsky.social with @mattiadeiulis.bsky.social is pure FIRE. Such fantastic writing and De Ilulis's art just feels indulgent in comics. Loved the mother/daughter flashbacks as Diana wrestles with the story. Then later lives it out. So good. Wow.

Reading 4Kids led me to @ashcanpress.com and @tylerboss.bsky.social next project, What’s The Furthest Place From Here? This, folks, is 100% the TREASURE I was seeking when I wandered into a comic shop a couple of years back looking for recommendations on awesome indie books. Starting Vol. 4 now!
I started listening to the Ideas Don’t Bleed podcast last year which is how I came to l know the work of @ashcanpress.com and @tylerboss.bsky.social, beginning with 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank. A heist comedy w kids as the criminals. Loved the imaginative intros to each chapter.

It’s nice how they’ve replicated the middle school dynamic of the insecure bully and his sniveling sidekick picking on someone surrounded by a circle of scared little boys who also try to talk shit so the bully doesn’t come after them.
