Great to see the progress being made for the new Beaulieu Park Rail Station in Essex, due to open in 2025 - the first to open along this line in 100 years!

So what does that mean for planning in Active Travel and Accessibility? So much that you’ll need to read my post on LinkedIn to find out!

Interesting walk back from the station last night around 9.45pm after talking to people about our streets and what makes them feel safe or not… @livingstreets.bsky.social

Great read from @adamtranter.bsky.social ⤵️

Technology should not be introduced at the expense of pedestrian freedom to use the highway safely and conveniently. We need to make sure that the most vulnerable road users are protected and prioritised so that our streets work for all.

We closed Abbeville Road in Clapham to cars for a few hours today and something truly radical and transformative happened.

We saw a community grow.

People came out to chat, laugh, listen, gossip, eat, drink and share.

Just proves that streets are for people not just for cars.

Breaking news! @sportengland.bsky.social's #ActiveLivesSurvey shows that walking for leisure has increased by 6.8%. That's over 3 million adults in England who are walking more! But there’s clearly a need for safer, more pleasant streets, as fewer people are walking for travel. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

70% of wheelchair users said pavement parking was a regular problem, forcing them into the road.

London can ban pavement parking; why can't the rest of the country?

There seems to be widespread support for it; for example, 78% of Daily Express readers back a ban.

Let's do it.

Delighted to walk and talk with @mariecgoldman.bsky.social recently, then to see her sharing our work. But more importantly the needs of pedestrians, especially children to walk to school safely.
In a recent Westminster Hall debate on Active Travel to School, I spoke about the great work of LivingStreets and the real issues I’ve seen locally — from potholes to damaged safety barriers. With the right infrastructure, we can make walking to school safe for every child.
