Great to see the progress being made for the new Beaulieu Park Rail Station in Essex, due to open in 2025 - the first to open along this line in 100 years!

So what does that mean for planning in Active Travel and Accessibility? So much that you’ll need to read my post on LinkedIn to find out!

Interesting walk back from the station last night around 9.45pm after talking to people about our streets and what makes them feel safe or not… @livingstreets.bsky.social
Empty road and street, nightfall, some ground level lighting and closed buildings with 3 level of flats Side view into multi-story car park, well lit, empty. Trees on pavement. Pathway through trees overhanging the path so only the middle section is seen. Dual carriageway no cars on this side, cars with lights lights on other side, pathways with trees on left. Road sign ahead.

When I talk #accessibility. I often talk toilets. 250,000 disabled people couldn’t access public toilets so we had to change it. Proud of everyone who made this happen; 543 installations. From lockdown conversations to £30m from DfT, CPT users were integral throughout 🙌

Fabulous 6mile walk with a new group of walking friends, all wonderful women. Lots of walking, talking and problem solving when the A12 got in the way…

Morning #London, nice to see a few more people back for the early commute. A few trees out for collection, signalling Christmas is truly done and dusted!

Noticeable how few people left the station today, the walk towards Old Street felt strangely unsafe for a route I know well. Really noticed the change when I saw people, well lit, welcoming and awake public spaces. What makes you feel safe walking, wheeling and cycling on the street? #SaferStreets

Returning to work after a few days away in Norfolk. This pathway was ideal for opening all the senses on a mindfulness walk.
Gravel path runs from the front to the back of the image, grass either side, up ahead autumnal trees of varying sizes with a hole almost door shaped in the distance where you can walk or wheel through on the path. Blue sky above.

Why isn’t there better signage for #pedestrians?
Some from the station but not to. Let’s warn pedestrians the footway is closed before they cross the road along the length the street. Not great for people using wheelchairs, buggy’s, walking aids, who will need to go back down the street to cross!
