It should be easy for educated, rational citizens to hold these two thoughts in mind: drug traffickers are the bad guys but due process of law protects us all.

Being against blowing up alleged drug traffickers at sea on the president's word does NOT make one a supporter of drug traffickers.

Still true. This particular other, less free, less enlightened country just happens to be America under Stephen Miller (who no one elected).
Call me old fashioned, but I remember when armed agents of the state barking, "where are your papers!?" was a thing that Americans associated with other, less free, less enlightened countries.

Exactly! Apparently, @markwarner.bsky.social @kaine.senate.gov need to learn this.
Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

We polled Indivisible members over the weekend on whether Dems should take a deal or keep fighting for the ACA subsidies. Results: 98.67% said keep fighting.

Dems who vote to surrender now are fracturing their own party in a way that will reverberate loudly in the primaries.

This is wrong. This is the weaponization of justice. This is an abuse of power. This is impeachable. This behavior of Trump’s must never be normalized. Never.👇
Never in the history of the US has any president openly and repeatedly called for the investigation, arrest & prosecution of his political opponents. While many continue to shrug these things off and normalize them, I will never stop pointing out that this is what autocrats do.

It’s quite simple: Congress can say a “day” is months when counting economic “emergencies”; the President* can say 6mos is a “year” for annual physicals. It’s all there in the Constitution, clearly.

*Still ineligible to serve
President Trump is going to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Friday morning for what the White House says is his "routine yearly checkup," just six months after undergoing what the White House at the time described as his "annual physical examination" at the same facility.

Pam Bondi is simply no match - intellectually or ethically - for Adam Schiff.

Watch this must-see clip as he dissects and exposes her pathetic performance today.

When she realizes how badly he is rolling her, she tries to interrupt. But it’s to no avail. She knows that he has her dead to rights.
"This is supposed to be an oversight hearing" -- Schiff helpfully ticks through all of the incriminating questions -- and there are many of them -- that Bondi refused to answer during today's hearing

They’re straight up mocking us with that “vulnerable group” shit.
New: Google removed an ICE-spotting app after calling ICE agents a vulnerable group. A immigration support group on the ground in Chicago, the current focus of ICE, said they were using the app to source tips, called Red Dot. Apple removed that app too

Yes for starters, though more people should also learn that “coequal” is a myth, and a particular framing — by Jackson and Nixon — in service of their personal interests in executive power.

Congress is Article I on purpose.

Article II and III only function on the field Congress has legislated in.
As the 119th Congress reconvenes it can continue to play junior partner while presidential power grows unchecked. Or it can rediscover its role as a coequal branch of government, capable of saying not just “we object” but “we decide.”

The hour is late. The tools exist. What’s missing is the will.

3. Don’t apologize, have confidence in your own integrity and the importance of your role
4. Always escalate the conflict
