If we really want to “make America great again” then the focus needs to be on labor organizing, extreme regulation of corporations, governmental oversight of big tech, and wealth taxes. We will not return to the heyday of working class jobs without the politics that prioritized workers.

After what is perhaps its second-longest hiatus of its 13-year history, my blog will be back on Monday. Thank you for your patience as I switched careers.

A full 50% of all consumer spending is now done by the richest 10% of the population and the swelling AI bubble, if it pops, will be 4x larger than the 2008 crash. This is not sustainable, but hey, as long as the rich get richer.

Convincing you that liberals are leftists is perhaps the greatest trick capitalists ever pulled.

In George Romero’s LAND OF THE DEAD, the zombies become class conscious, which I guess makes the living dead smarter than most Americans.

Over a third of U.S. GDP growth is spent on data centers. This has now outpaced consumer spending. The AI hype machine is holding up our failing economy, and the bubble could easily burst.

Spending on AI data centers is so massive that it’s taken a bigger chunk of GDP growth than shopping—and it could crash the American economy
As Rusty Foster, author of the widely read media blog Today in Tabs, puts it: “Our economy might just be three AI data centers in a trench coat.”

When people would ask if you had any plans for the fall, people used to assume you were talking about autumn. Not anymore.

My great-grandparents were murdered in Buchenwald. I know what I’m seeing, too.
I read 1984.
And Fahrenheit 451.
And A Brave New World. And The Handmaid‘s Tale.
And The Giver.
And The Road.
And The Lottery.
And The Parable of the Sower.
And The Hunger Games.

I know what I’m seeing.

The Department of Justice has removed a study showing that white supremacist and far-right violence “continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism” in the United States.

Neoliberalism is collapsing, and the West no longer has a living, breathing leftist/labor movement to counter the rising tide of reactionary fascism that is filling the void.

People really need to start connecting the dots. The whiffs of fascism we keep getting are no accident.
The tech fascism is getting so bad that even Teddy Schleifer of the New York Times is forced to write about it!

NYT: Elon Musk Consulted Curtis Yarvin on Third Party.

Schleifer, who purports to cover tech billionaires, has largely avoided these topics until now.

This is gold
Before Stalin died, he called Khrushchev into his office and gave him two letters. "When things go bad, open the first letter. It will help you. When things go really bad, open the second letter."

Stalin dies and Khrushchev rules the country. But like always, things start to get bad.

Oh, here's another one: there's no such thing as version 2 or priority 2.

By the time that version 1 is shipped, there's already a new set of priority 1 work.

Things either get built, or don't. Any priority category besides the top one is "don't."

Wouldn’t that just mean the masses are back asleep in their propagandized slumber? No, I’d rather that everyone wake the hell up.

If you really think undocumented immigrants are parasites while billionaires are a net positive for the economy as a whole then you’ve effectively been propagandized to the point that you have an inverted view of how our system actually works.
