We’ve written to the Culture Secretary & Chair of the BBC Board, calling for Robbie Gibb’s removal from the board. Many BBC staff are concerned that he is a block to the BBC maintaining its chartered objective of independence. Read more here: bectu.org.uk/news/bectu-c...

Me still singing 🎶 Betty Eats Cake And Uncle Sells Eggs🎶 30 years later. Thank you Miss Brown
I’ve remembered how to spell Desert vs Dessert because some kid in grade 5 said “dessert has two S’es because you want 2 servings”. Thanks for your service, Christian, even 20 years later 🫡

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I live in London, and the mayoralty of New York City makes no practical difference to my life at all, but my goodness it’s been a while since I rooted for anyone as strongly as I’m rooting for Zohran Mamdani

But for real though. COVID, being at home with nothing else to distract you from tuning into what's happening in the world, having the time to dig deeper without work and social obligations, 100% paying attention radicalised me.
“what radicalized you” idk paying attention

“Keir Starmer is, politically speaking, the walking dead. Which really is an insult to zombies because, as any fan of the genre will know, zombies have a very clear sense of direction”

💀
Let me make this clear: I would never have Starmer-supporting cats.

Housemate who doesn’t love horror suggests we watch House of Dynamite instead.

Realist(ish) start of a nuclear war plays out.

We’re now WAY more terrified than after any of the scary movies we’ve watched this month.

Great plan.

think this is something that white people/non-migrants maybe don't always get, more broadly - can't speak for all immigrants, of course, or for all non-white people, but even I, arguably the single most white-passing mixed race person to ever do it, will hear that stuff and take it pretty personally
Very revealing that several Germans have got in touch to say that their chancellor’s comments about migrants were not directed at me. First of all, that would imply I shouldn’t care. Secondly, to imply that non-white races are inherently more likely to commit crime is an attack on *all* migrants.
