Just saw someone repost this so I thought I'd resurface it for everyone. It's still relevant.
Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

@darthbluesky.bsky.social it turns out ‘hash browns’ was trending on Threads last night (it’s petering out now, but still going). I can’t help but think you’d have been the life of the party 🥔

I haven’t watched regular TV for a long time, but if I ever do again, it won’t be anything on CBS
CBS cancelled The Smothers Brothers show for their criticism of the Vietnam War. This yet another episode in an honorable and proud tradition.

CBS's Colbert cancellation is eerily like Edward R. Murrow's cancellation for criticism of McCarthyism. Both were cancelled by CBS for the same reason, standing up to authoritarianism.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Hahaha we are both in the Venn intersection for mansplaining (women in male-coded fields) and cynicism bias (ie being negative to look smarter). The idea that we don’t think our world needs to end in death and despair *because* we deeply understand its physical reality is apparently hard to grasp.

(Also, any sentient person knew this was coming based primarily on relentless announcements such as "We are going to do this thing.")
