I've been asked a lot recently about a piece I wrote on the book/social media phenomenon/legend that is Memorial Device & the #MDANT community, so I've put it up on a website I haven't used since 2016. It is now the first tab. Hope you like it danigaravelli.wordpress.com. @memorialdevice.bsky.social

Keep thinking about our work Christmas party the other night. One of the admins (early 20s) asked me how I knew what Brat Summer was and then as I was leaving, the zip on my skinny jeans burst. I always thought ageing was a gradual process, not two events in a single evening.
a middle-aged friend of mine who runs his own company told me that his young gen-z employees staged an intervention like christopher moltisanti and told him he has to stop wearing slim fit pants

My folks gave me a solid grounding in music. Beatles, Stones, Dylan etc al and I am forever grateful. My big brother then took over with Mary Chain, Public Enemy Stone Roses and many more. My parents provided my undergrad, brother the Masters degree ✊
I hope to do the same for my lad.
I got a question for yall. What’s your parents music taste like and did it have any impact on your own taste in music?

My pops is a big hip hop head, worked at one of the most popular rap labels of the late 90s, early 2000s. My mom was big on R&B and soul/funk music. It def shaped my taste

Dani getting right to the heart of the matter again. I work in Glasgow, benefit from its amenities yet here I am in East Ren contributing nothing to my city. The article also offers some interesting solutions. An important piece this one.
I belong to Glasgow. But do I really? My piece for @glasgowbell.bsky.social about the guilt of living just over the East Renfrewshire boundary, and paying nothing towards the city's upkeep, something I've been musing on for a long time. www.glasgowbell.co.uk/should-glasg...
Should Glasgow's suburbs subsidise the city?
Play in Pollok Park, work in town; pay tax in East Ren.

The great Algerian novelist, Boualem Sansal, whose novels I have had the privilege of translating, has “disappeared“ in his native Algeria, where his books are banned, and he has been a thorn the side of government. It seems he has been arrested, though no statement or charges have been released
