I love cooking Thanksgiving meals but I will never again cook my own turkey because I am surrounded by stores who smoke turkeys and they are better than anything I would do.
Here’s a non-Thanksgiving turkey tip: if you have a reliable local barbecue spot and they make smoked turkey and you’ve never had whatever kind of turkey sandwich they make with it, it will probably change your life

2 years ago I thought I would never be able to run without pain ever again and today a jogged a mile in 12 minutes. It probably doesn’t sound like much but it took a lot to make it happen, and I hope with continued strength work will get better. Fitness goals don’t have to be ambitious to matter.

I explained this to people watching the semifinal with me today who don’t watch a lot of soccer and their minds were blown. I love the NWSL.

The podcast The Economist produced about pig butchering is one of the wildest things I have ever listened to, if you use any social media app with a messaging feature you need to know.
A "pig butchering" scam might open with a simple “Hi” or some good-natured confusion about why your phone number seems to be in the person’s address book.

It's the first step in a process intended to drain your bank account and ruin your life.

My heart is with the Seattle WOSO community, my brother had the opportunity to coach Mia and told me about how amazing she was. The people who knew and loved her will carry her light forward.
University of Washington goalkeeper Mia Hamant passed away following a valiant battle with kidney cancer. The Seattle Reign and Orlando Pride players honor her legacy by wearing orange ribbons tonight 🧡

Our thoughts are with her family, teammates and the entire Husky community.

It will likely not get that much attention today, but a court-ordered special redistricting election, which made house districts more representative in Mississippi, resulted in the end of a republican supermajority in the state house. District 22, thank you for making your voices heard.
Democrats flip two seats in deep red Mississippi, break GOP supermajority
The outcome in Mississippi adds to a national pattern in which Democrats are making legislative gains in red states.

I’m worked up by the elections and the the SEC women’s soccer tournament. I can’t get ready to sleep after watching returns and that Ally Perry goal for a Mississippi State upset win. Sorry brain.

Echo this, send cash
Im BEGGING y’all: please just give money to yhe foodbanks.

Foodbanks are one charity where money goes a LONG ASS WAY because they get subsidized prices for the food they purchase.

I only raised $3K by myself and it was enough for almost 11,000 full MEALS they told me.

Donate MONEY.

And shout out to all my friends with children who do this, or hide in their bathrooms or closets, to get a break from parenting. I see you-and hopefully they won’t-catch your breath.
You ever sit in your car in the driveway for a long time because you don't wanna go in? I bet Michelle Obama does that all the time. Gets a text from Barry about some new podcast "you should listen to" and now she's staring at the garage door listening to De La Soul and thinking about a cigarette.

More and more studies show that adults are taking more supplements, and those supplements can sometimes expose people to high levels of heavy metals and other toxics that can do all types of damage. Talk to your doctors and avoid consuming too much protein powder, turmeric, and red yeast rice OTC.
Protein is probably the most studied OTC supplement related to health & fitness - feels like a big thing to have missed previously! I'll be very curious to see if this article from Consumer Reports is replicated by academic researchers.

I’ve tried to make it a point this year to go see movies in theaters more, because it’s almost always a good experience. A couple of months ago my friends and I realized a local theater has $6 tickets on Tuesdays, so now I have a proper movie club group. It’s a small but very gratifying thing.
