We will wear the shame of actions being taken in our name for generations.

Anything less than wholesale rejection of the faceless, thuggish terrorizing of our peaceful communities is cowardice and a betrayal of our shared humanity.

It’s disgusting to see the same MI House Republicans that sit on their hands in silent prayer while kids are gunned down in schools exploit one tragic sport injury to attack LGBTQ kids.

For anyone keeping track, Rep. Josh Schriver had on his white supremacist clown makeup again today on the Michigan House floor.

AOC: What they like to call as radical, I believe is common sense.

I believe that when a person gets sick, they shouldn’t go bankrupt in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. Common sense

Extraordinary moment — Nancy Pelosi issues a statement calling on Democratic senators to reject the House funding bill, i.e. to defy Chuck Schumer.

"Democratic senators should listen to the women," she says, referring to Murray/DeLauro who want a 1-month stopgap bill instead.

"The era of letting Republicans break all the rules, not follow any of the laws, run roughshod over the Democrats, while the Democrats continue to just try to protect every possible existing norm and institution, that era is over." Time for Chuck Schumer to get the memo. Tim Miller:

It is utterly, inexcusably shameful for ANY Democrat to support the MI House GOP attack on trans kids today.

There is no queer rights movement without our trans siblings. An attack on any of us is an attack on us all.

This validation of lowbrow GOP scapegoating puts our community in real danger.

Another reason why President Musk ordered the funding freeze is many, maybe most of the social service organizations it affected are led by successful educated women. President Mommy Issues doesn't like it when a lady has the title "Executive Director" and he's making it everybody's problem

“As on immigration, spinelessness is becoming congenital.”
The Democrats' loss of ground on trans issues "has been an entirely self-administered failure, the result of a surrender to soi-disant 'trans advocates' from the faculty lounge and other dens of leftism—few of whom are themselves transgender."
We All Lose in Trump’s War Against Trans Americans
His cynical executive orders targeting trans people will harm important American institutions by taking away talent, energy, and the plain competence our country needs.

Respectfully (and I genuinely mean this), I’ve never heard a single regular person ask for “bipartisanship.” That’s inside nonsense.

They want things to work.

If the other party refuses to work for people, be the ones who will. Fight for people. Make it plain who isn’t, and who THEY’RE for.
It is time to look to the future.

The challenges that face America are many and great.

The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

This. I’m not sure why people think compliance is the preferred route here. We have a system in place to protect us, and preemptively ignoring it is a level of defeatism we have to reject.
Constitutional defeatism is no virtue as much as ignorance of legal realism is unhelpful. Ideas are institutions. Institutions are not self-preserving. We must defend normative principles as being against actions, calling them unlawful if warranted, and rally popular support for enduring values.
I am shocked at the number of people talking about how Trump’s executive orders are illegal as if that is a deterrent. I don’t even know how to wrap my mind around this.

The rules, if you are keeping track:

If a single left activist anywhere in the world says "defund the police," it becomes the official position of the Democratic Party, now and forever.

If the president's top surrogate repeatedly sieg-heils on stage, it's ambiguous, impossible to interpret.

The existence of even one billionaire is symptomatic of a failure of our tax policy. How can democracy be sustained when a small handful can personally amass the wealth of nations, buying all pipelines of information in addition to the politicians who have the duty to regulate them?
Seated *in front* of the cabinet!

The puzzle for Democrats is how to separate "good" from "bad" billionaires. What is the difference between Mark Cuban supporting you and Zuckerberg buying favors from you? It's not a slam dunk, needs explaining.
