Crossposting: So I'm trans and a lesbian and guess I should say something. I figured out what I was when I was a child, and still remember the moment, but didn't think I'd ever be able to do anything about it. Finally found a way, but it took decades. Never too late. Live and love as yourself

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

Dear friends

Nothing has improved. We're living between cold, hunger, and despair as if the war never ended. What hurts most is feeling forgotten as support fades. Please donate or share to help us hold on and keep hope alive.🙏❤️

Prince George's County, MD, which borders DC, still has segregation academies today, as well as the 1978 Tax Reform Initiative by Marylanders (TRIM), which froze property taxes to starve the school system after the county lost Vaughns v Board and was forced to desegregate in a 1974 consent decree
The biggest effects? Not in cities — but in rural counties with:

⬆️ More Black residents
💸 Lower incomes
⚪ Stronger racial animus

Academies made segregation affordable for families who couldn’t move or pay for elite private schools.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Every breath my son takes feels like a fight for life.
We lost everything in the war even the nebulizer that helps my child breathe.
It costs $300, and we have nothing left.
Please, help me give my baby the gift of breathing again. 🙏

I will continue to stand up to authoritarianism and call this out for what it is: a political prosecution.

It's important to remember that Delaware was a slave state that did not secede from the Union and hence was not affected by the Emancipation Proclamation. Delaware did not ratify the 13th Amendment until 1901

The beginning of a sprawling thread on Southern industrialization, the utter horror Black Union troops prevented from being born, and our current nightmare born from national reconciliation later betraying them. So much fun, listing the accomplishments of people who wish you dead. Anyhoo:
The illegal ending of Reconstruction means we have not had a legitimate government since 1877. However, if the enslaved had not walked off plantations, crossed Union lines, and demanded rifles, rather than reconciliation between North & South we would have seen chattel slave industrial manufacturing

Everyone… I just need to rent a place to replace our tent. My family has fallen very sick because of it, Don’t forget us even with the ceasefire it’s an illusion to divert attention from us. Our suffering has worsened, the situation is extremely dire and I’ve lost everything except my trust in you.
My dearest friend set up the weekly and monthly donation options so that we can stay alive after a tent was destroyed just 100 meters away from us last night. The sand covered our faces while we were still alive.

I’m deeply depressed and can’t keep begging one by one for help anymore.

A bunch did, but Gödel Escher Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid changed me a lot. It introduced me to its three namesakes, but also Magritte, Art-Language, Zen koans, and other things it included as incomprehemsible nonsense that wasn't that to me
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

My Mom, rest her soul, was a lifelong educator; growing up I'd sit and listen anytime she talked about her profession. We've been in a literacy crisis for the past 40+ years and we've been defunding education generally and school libraries specfically that whole time. Perhaps that's the problem
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

when this piece of shit is asked what good phone pouches are supposed to do, shs responds glibly about online radicalisation. where else would children learn to be transphobic in the tolerant UK, after all? ridiculous
On Brianna's 19th birthday, this morning I joined @cheshirepcc.bsky.social and the Brianna Ghey Legacy Project Phone Free Education campaign at the launch at Jodrell Bank of a new £150k initiative to make Cheshire the first county in the UK where ALL state high schools have lockable phone pouches.

Deb Cohen - while working at Newsnight to push her anti-trans ideological agenda - was also an editor of the British Medical Association (BMA) magazine, the BMJ - using her privileged position to platform transphobic talking points to give credibility.

She then reported on those points as facts! 😣
Emily Maitlis & Jon Sopel on The News Agents podcast taking credit for getting the GIDS Tavistock clinic closed down.

Puffed-up journalists with their sense of self-importance think they can’t be radicalised & biased!

History will not be kind to them! 😖
