Holy Galileo Galilei! The I Love Science guys are now against scientific journalism, calling “monetizing controversy”.
And in fact this is a social science methodology issue (which I believe is one of Singal’s areas of expertise) not a scientific breakdown.

If someone wants to do a scientific breakdown and rebuttal of published literature then have it reviewed and publish it!

In 2025 can we drop the You Must Be Doing Something Right (if you piss off the other team). It’s these types of journalists whole job just to whine about their adversarial counterparts (usually just by pointing to their successes) rather than cover the real power brokers or their effects on society.

a boring point I would make on blocklists is that journalists will often need to follow questionable people, because it can be part of our jobs, so you may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater by subscribing to any list that's based on "everyone who follows X or Y"

There is so much nuke blocking going on here that I am now seeing users complaining that they have been clipped by blocklists used by their online fans and faves. Friendly fire everywhere lol!

Some devs make delimiting tools like power blocklists and snitchline dashboards to minimize discussion and some create tools to increase dialog. This is an interesting turn in the latter's direction. #openinternet

Just noticed the Bluesky image's alt text gets automatically displayed as a caption. Image alt text and captions are usually not the same at all! Which is why they belong to seperate elements in HTML.
The only reason I can come up with for this "feature" is so we can signal how considerate we are.
