An actual huming bean. She/her. Writer. Editor. Parent. Grappler with chronic fatigue.
I knew there was a reason why I hadn't yet unsubscribed from these emails. Headlines like this make it all worthwhile.

It's Sukkot, my parents are staying with us for Shabbat. Mum seems much better than I've seen her in months, and Dad is enjoying being looked after instead of doing all the looking after. I know moments never stay the same but this one is sweet and I'm dwelling in it.

The Gender Critical have already inundated this survey with their disgusting views on banning trans people from using the ponds.

Would be a shame if we inundated with trans positive views on not banning trans people.

We are deeply concerned by reports of a violent attack at a synagogue in Manchester today. We unequivocally condemn this act of violence.

Even back in the 70s and 80s when I could be hassled by the police for walking while trans, no one ever tried to stop me pissing in the Ladies or tried to make me change into my swimsuit among men.

There is no dignity or respect involved in taking away rights I have exercised freely for forty years

Poor reporting from @bbcnews-uk-rss.bsky.social today: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If your front page headline says "figures show" something, the article should show data backing that up, and cite the source.

@dementiacommunity.bsky.social I don't know what prompted you to follow my account (I'm not exactly prolific!), but the timing is apt. My mum has recently been diagnosed with dementia and has returned to the uk with my dad after 12 years ex-pat. We are trying to learn how to support her.

maybe this is a fun place to record my thoughts on fragrances, since I've embarked on a bit of journey lately from "having no clue what anything smells like" to "having at least the vaguest familiarity with some smells". Also known as "trying to sniff all the things." #fragrances #perfumes

This is an amazing story! Please also note the poster's request at the end to support their friend @coffinmilf.bsky.social's urgent appeal to prevent their utilities being shut off.
Okay, here's the story of George de Hevesy vs the Nazis! I really do love telling this story.

First, some background: George de Hevesy was a Hungarian-Jewish chemist, but he spent most of his career post-1920 attached to the Niels Bohr institute at the University of Copenhagen, in Denmark. (1/n)

Today is a fatigue crash day, after a week of joints in flare-up. It would ofc be the same day the childe is off school due to illness (too sick for school, well enough to get bored). Guess I won't be doing Ideal Parenting today, just muddling thru. Have helped childe make a cute cafe menu tho.

My husband and childe bought me a BUTTON as a gift! I love it so much and now you must all admire it too.

I think there's a big difference between what people think of when they hear about Bluesky blocking, and what it actually means in practice for most of us. So I made a diagram.

I never liked Twotter. From the moment it went from a handful of users to a huge public platform I hated the whole thing and could never articulate why. In time, I think it articulated it for me.

Defenceless under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.

[This is a text adventure. I will run it for an hour. Anyone can play; just type your actions in.]

You awaken in a DUNGEON. The flagstones are damp beneath your body. A flaming torch flickers beyond the bars of your cell door spreading shadow and smoke.

You must ESCAPE!

What is your CLASS?
