We're all literally going through the cyberpunk dystopian shit. Might as well sport the cyberpunk fashion now.

I'm half an hour into this (browser, free) mystery game and I can already recommend it. Read transcribed recordings, work out who people are, find missing files on a hard drive - lots of fun.
Type Help
A file. A mystery. Dive into echoes of the past to solve a murder. The game is making it to Steam next year under the title The Incident at Galley House -- but why wait when you can play it now?

Mostly disagree with this, but only because so many factors have changed in the video games industry that doing a straight inflation adjustment is meaningless.
Things that have changed so HUGELY in the past 20-30 years that the market is almost unrecognisable, just off the top of my head:

AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

Special shout out to fantastic artist @brandonbird.bsky.social. Twenty years ago I sent him a last minute order for a set of his amazing Law & Order: SVU Valentine Cards ( brandonbird.com/svutines.html ) even though he’d marked them as sold out, and he sent me some anyway ‘cos he’s a MENSCH.

I've been bedridden for the last 10 months, unable to work as I try to get a surgeon and insurance lined up for my operation to let me work again.
If you could send a couple dollars, it'd really help. Time isn't on my side here, and waiting is very expensive.

I distinctly remember my “THIS IS REAL!” amazement at a cheque for £5 arriving a week after I participated in an online quiz contest.
This was late 1996. Thanks to university, I’d already been on the internet for three years. I got a free t-shirt from the MSIE 3.0 launch months earlier. EVEN SO.

Do you remember when it felt like the Internet wasn’t real, and things that happened there hadn’t really happened? Do you remember when it stopped feeling that way?
(For me there were two things. First when I ordered a physical object online and it arrived circa… 1998?. Second was gamergate.)
