I know that I'm late to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes but damn the quotes at the very beginning go hard and I can't wait to have my soul absolutely shattered.

Hanging out with engineers is so much fun because we'll be crafting/doodling while we yap and watch the kids play and then I hear "aw dammit my doodles are organized"

This got lost enough that I, at least, didn't see it. Tr*mp sues Penguin Random House for $15 billion for publishing a book that cast him in a negative light. Going after comedians is indeed terrifying. Going after publishers is at least equally terrifying.

I have a friend who tells me he's a writer. He wrote professionally at one point, but when I ask him about what he's worked on recently, it's notes he's taken from books about writing. If that's where you're at right now, awesome.

I broke my knitting needles 2 weeks ago. Their replacements arrived within a week. I have been putting off knitting because I don't want to transfer 1200 lace stitches but I'm at the point where I have no other portable projects 🥲

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

There used to be a debate about whether reading actually improved people as people or it was just another way to pass the time.

I feel like the 21st century decline of reading and simultaneous rise in ~waves hand at all that~ provides a pretty clear answer.

Historical reproduction pattern makers will really stand on all 10 toes and tell you that a dress made in the 1930s was cut and stitched on a way that didn't save the most fabric and took the most time? A mom making this dress in 1932 is going to flat fell her seems?? Be so for real for a minute.
