So, fun fact: Whenever I discover a packaged gluten-free food of something I loved in the gluten days, I cackle in public like a supervillain.

HOLY STARS, I SUBMITTED ANOTHER THING TO A THING, AND IT’S A THING I DON’T USUALLY DO!!!

AHHHHH!

Oh my goodness. I just learned that Alice Wong, a major disability advocate and founder of the Disability Visibility Project, has died. She did incredible work and will be so missed.

I love when buttercream frosting comes out so light and fluffy. This is lemon buttercream, and I just put a tiny bit of food dye to make the yellow rosettes pop. The cupcakes themselves are lemon vanilla.

Huh. There seems to be a dozen lemon cupcakes on my cooling rack. I wonder where they came from? 😇

So, part of my health routine is taking BP readings. When I opened my blood pressure cuff this morning, there was a spider inside it. Because of my acute arachnophobia, I screamed! Then because I’m such a science nerd, I took my blood pressure, so I’d know how it would be when I had arachnophobia. 😳

A4: I might bring back my fleece jammies and fuzzy socks. They’ve worked before to get my writing skills happening! #WeeknightWriters
Q4: What can you do in the next three days to make the next week of #FirstDraftFall easier for yourself? #WeeknightWriters
November 14, 2025 at 1:23 AM
A3: I just love that #FirstDraftFall exists! Fall is such a cozy time for me to write. So, I’m glad it’s out there as a reminder to do the thing. And I love community building initiatives! 🥰 #WeeknightWriters
Q3: Let’s cheer things up a bit! What’s your favourite part of #FirstDraftFall so far? #WeeknightWriters
November 14, 2025 at 1:00 AM
A2: Sometimes I feel like angels will fly right out of my butt before I can get the time to work on it. Sigh. And I love this story, too. These days I feel like I’m just holding my head above water. So yeah, all the *gestures at life stuff* is robbing me of my energy to write. #WeeknightWriters
Q2: Are you struggling with anything specific in your #FirstDraftFall project? Tell us about it and we’ll see how we can help! #WeeknightWriters
November 14, 2025 at 12:37 AM
Hi, I’m Cait (like 🐈.) I’m an award-winning alphabet arranger who really loves cake. I have been sober for over 35 years now, and this was the cake I baked for it! (BTW, my WIP is Hot Wings and Sauciness, the meet-awkward-space-opera romance nobody asked for!) #WeeknightWriters
November 14, 2025 at 12:24 AM
A1: Okay, so I am still not working on my WIP because of *gestures at my life*, but I did write three poems for a disability-themed thing! THOSE ARE STILL WORDS, YA KNOW! 😄 #WeeknightWriters
Q1: How are you feeling about your #FirstDraftFall progress so far? Excited? Disheartened? #WeeknightWriters

Yesterday, I was too exhausted to do my freelance work, but I had a much more productive day today and got a lot done. Battling chronic fatigue and pain is my real full-time job.

Oh oh oh! I did have a moment like this recently! When Talia and I were at Trent University talking about what it’s like to be disabled creatives in PublishingWorldLand and about disability representation in fiction. I felt supremely at ease! #SpoonieAuthChat

I’m mostly shy, believe it or not. Especially when asking established authors for blurbs. I always feel like an awkard teen trying to ask out a popular kid. But folks have been very generous with their time in helping me! #SpoonieAuthChat

OK, so fun fact. My bread machine bakes my gluten-free flax bread in a cube shape. So I’ve started calling it Borg bread! Resistance to carbs is futile!

A lovely human just told me I am their favourite editor. That made my heart happy because this morning hasn’t started out so well.

Never underestimate what a little phrase of kindness can do to lift someone’s spirits.

I would like to continue my goal of setting aside all the noise of PublishingWorldLand and just have fun with words again. Try new things. Play in my alphabet playground. #SpoonieAuthChat

I have a consistent problem with my author clients. They write books that are so gripping, I can’t focus on editing them. It’s a real issue!

I didn’t really like the new Frankenstein movie.

But I might have a crush on the Frankenstein’s “monster” in it.
