Hello, fellow Spoonies! 🥄

I write speculative short stories as well as the occasional flash.

Mostly on the darker side (which has proven a pain to find a home for), but with an occasional flash of humor.

Hi! I’m Cait, like 🐱! Once upon a time, I never thought I’d be a short fiction author, but thanks to encouragement from @madonaskaff.bsky.social and @nathanburgoine.bsky.social, I tried it and loved it!

This is a hard one for me. I don't write because I love to write, I write because I need to write. I've tried to stop writing in the past and it never works, I always find myself writing again.

My short novel Island Views is a romantic comedy/cozy mystery. The romance is wholesome, the mystery is realistic but nobody dies -- it's even YA compatible!

ebook is 99cents till the end of February

is my fave of my love stories. It's an SF genderflipped take on some popular historical romance tropes.

yes, I love romantic love, as well ! I can’t believe there used to be a time in which I hated romance. I can’t get enough of designing the little details of romantic relationships, & writing out all their sappy sweetness

(& friend love is amazing too, I missed that one)

Quite a bit for not being a Romance author! I love to write established relationships, older people in love, and people finding relationships when they don't expect to.

I love telling stories, and I also love writing about things that most people don't see. Queer lives are lived largely out of sight, and I like being able to mix my experiences as a queer trans person into my writing.

I love writing for the same reason I started concocting stories in my head as a kid on long car rides:

Writing gives my imagination the space and canvas it needs to breathe.

I don't have to keep my wondering bottled up. Instead, I can share it with the world.

I was on a panel about getting back to the love of writing at @canconsffh.bsky.social last October. It’s so important to me to remember why I write—because I love telling myself stories! I also love when characters grab the plot away from me and tell me where the story should go. #SpoonieAuthChat

I absolutely have. I love exploring all sorts of relationship in my writing, and romantic love is great fun to dive into. It's one of many dynamics and offers it's own individual ups and downs that characters grow and change through 😍

Of course, & just like the others, in many different ways. Married couples, dating couples, couples in deep, full love but aren't committed. I'll eventually have polyam relationships & unrequited love. Immediate sparks w/both diving in & resisting & slow-burn & reconcilliation

It's found crime family for me, heavy on the "we should hate each other but instead we're healing together" and leaning into platonic soulmates.
