I'm going to see if I can actually work on two projects at once. Both Philly by Night and Armor of the Saints are very early drafts (I write very little in the winter.) I'd like to finish Philly by Night before Rehoboth Pride, but we'll see.
What’s the first writing related project you plan to tackle for the new year? #WritingPrompt

One of the things I'm working on accepting over the coming year is the fact that my books appeal very little to the online crowd. I also appeal very little to bookish circles online, and I'm ok with that. It means my writing journey will be slower, but still worthwhile.

end-last

Little was known about the fate of Lauretius the Magnificent, the last Sorcerer King of Finndrigair. Spotty accounts across centuries of documents suggested he yet lived, trapped beyond the Wall just like the Inferni.

🎶This is the end... beautiful friend... the end... 🎶

The #WIPSnips word on this eve of the new year is "end"

Be safe out there, folks! It's been lovely spending another full year hosting WIPSnips for y'all.

I wrote in first person for the first time ever, and I finished what was the first book I started writing. I put it down after being bullied online in 2022, and I finished the whole thing in under 10 months.
What's something you did with your writing in 2025 that you're genuinely proud of? (If you disparage yourself on this post I will beat you with hammers) #WritingPrompt

I've been feeling frazzled lately, so I've been giving my brain a break these last few weeks. OF COURSE that's when the creative bits start to go brrrrrrrrrrr. I'm giving myself a few more weeks before moving back into writing steadily again. Got two books in the works atm.

When examined in full, history reveals the use of more than binary 'man' and 'woman' in all corners of the world and all cultures. Trans, nonbinary, and gender non conforming folks have a longer historical record than most religions, and show up in some of the earliest human records and myths.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Cyril's never had to fight one, but he's terrified of the metallic monsters the Great Monster Wall was built to hold back. The thought of a creature that kills without need or thought disturbs him.
The end of the year always gives me anxiety, so let's talk about fear!

Do any of your characters have a phobia? Of what and how severe is it? What is it that makes them afraid about it?

Reading & writing has kept me alive this year.

Somehow, it’s been my most productive year as an author.

Here’s a guide to what I’ve published in 2025, in case you’ve lost track.

Cyril totally would, but Santa Claus/a Saint Nicholas analogue would slot nicely into the regional religion he already follows.

Rudolph's relationship with Santa is complicated. He's too old to believe in a childlike way when he learns of Santa, but Santa fits with his secular view of the holiday.
Would your character believe in Santa Clause? (Assuming such a myth/legend existed)

I'm really looking forward to writing the first appearance of the main antagonist in the Heirs of Finndrigair series in my current book. He's the world's angriest necromancer.
What’s something you’re looking forward to writing? A scene? A particular book? #WritingPrompt

I've never written Cyril and Daumantas' meet cute, so I'd probably do that as a bonus short story.
For your WIPs or published stories, if you were asked to write a "bonus scene" outside of the main plot, what would it be?

There is a lot about the right's attack on trans issues to be concerned about, but at a high level I think it's really important to double down on how entirely fabricated it is.

That's the case with women's sports, it's the case with kids getting lower surgery ... it's all hypothetical, not reality
I don't mean to amplify the garbage .... but also I really need to stress here once again that KIDS DON'T GET LOWER SURGERY. That doesn't happen!!!

All of these government officials are obsessed with talking about HYPOTHETICAL CHILD GENITALS
Dr Oz: "The creation of a penis costs on average in America $150,000 per child ... if you add testicles, that's extra"
