I think a combination of Blue Labour hostility to the EU, fear of Reform, and drinking the deregulation kool-aid is why the obvious step of alignment is not being taken. Shows the limits of growth as a priority.

Tied in of course to the EU question... if I was a Labour MP hearing a Chancellor plead poverty repeatedly I might be asking why then there has been so much caution on trade ties with our neighbours where there are clear opportunities. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Tied in of course to the EU question... if I was a Labour MP hearing a Chancellor plead poverty repeatedly I might be asking why then there has been so much caution on trade ties with our neighbours where there are clear opportunities. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

I feel your pain Dolly. My experience is similar to yours. Struggled to work as a single mother. Had to give up nursing due to ill health. I work now (not nursing), but hanging on by the skin of my teeth, barely functioning some days.
