The "Elon Musk is a genius" types are worse than Elon Musk because they enable Elon Musk
The "Dominic Cummings is a genius" types were worse than Dominic Cummings because they enabled Dominic Cummings.

The "Boris Johnson is a genius" types were worse than Boris Johnson because they enabled Boris Johnson.

Now go away and write that out a thousand times.

So it turns out that the Nobel Peace Prize committee saw fit to give the award to a person that played an active part in an attempt to overthrow a democratically elected government. It wasn't Trump though....

The Bank of England is worried that AI stocks are entering speculative bubble territory. Not really surprising when you consider that a large amount of passes for generative AI is essentially glorified search engines.

Britain has seen an acute living standards slowdown over the past 20 years.

This has affected incomes across the distribution.

A typical family today would be £20,000 richer if incomes had continued growing at the same rate since 2005, when the Foundation was founded.

Want to beat populism? Then you need to ensure that working class people have secure employment that offers a decent standard of living, good quality, affordable housing and good quality public services that are there when you need them.

It's that fucking simple.

Here's a thought about UK inflation.

The government doesn't use the RPI rate of inflation any more because it includes housing costs, which are considered too volatile. However the government's preferred measure, CPI includes air fares, which rose 22% in July because of the school holidays!

The Guardian today claims that political violence is *now* part of US political culture because of the murder of Charlie Kirk.

All I can say is they haven't been paying much attention for the last 250 years.

Myth #4:
GDP is the correct measure of progress

Reality:
GDP tracks spending, not wellbeing or ecosystem functionality

Implication:
Our main cultural goal is focused on costs, not benefits

The BBC is claiming that Bob Vylans' chant of "death to the IDF" was anti-Semitic.

In fact, what the BBC has done there is conflate all Jews with the state of Israel. Now thats anti semitic.

All Jews are not the IDF, in the same way that all Palestinians are not Hamas.
