Went with "dominate," which is close enough. From The Stardust of Failure, Chapter 5, wherein the members of Sigma S Star are experimenting with (gasp!) solo albums.

you truly don't want to know how much of your modern lexicon was created by homestar runner, even if you never watched it it inspired all your favorite quirked up white boy comedy shows and podcasts
(A couple days ago my roommate and I were trying to figure out why the phrase “crapfully yours” was in our heads and initially guessed it was an ancient foamy thing. It was not, it was homestar runner, but it’s been re-engaging the old internet video circuitry in my brain, which there’s too much of)

Hello y'all! Butterfly on a Wheel has been out for almost a year, but it's about to go on sale at Smashwords (starting 12/8). If you are interested in a coming-of-age tale about a messy pop-rock band fronted by a trans guy, you can find it here as well as at the 'Zon!

From The Stardust of Failure, Chapter 11. Modern bands need to be on the road to make money, but COVID came along and blasted a crater in everyone's plans. What's a band to do?

The Moondreamers are the "antagonists" to Sigma S Star largely because they each need a foil. The 'Dreamers helped S* get signed in the first place because their leader wanted a messy band to be the opposition to the 'Dreamers' perfection, and S* chafe at the role and at the help.

Weird. This sentence is the sole use of "snack" in the manuscript and also the singular use of today's WIPSnip word.

"The only eyes belonged to a tern making its swoops and dives in search of an afternoon snack."

From the ending of Chapter 1 of The Stardust of Failure.

Having gone through hell just to get to hell, Elvis Costello’s '86 ‘Blood And Chocolate’ LP is 48-minutes of shrill and thrilling score-settling leveled against past lovers, industry dweebs and primarily himself. A psychic demolition derby. Nowhere is his home. Hope your satisfied what you’ve done.

Was compelled by our favorite tiny humans to watch the Wicked sequel. Movie bad, but worse than expected level of bad. Bad in ways that shrink the vast, weird, compelling world of Oz from the books into something small, even petty. Opposite of wonder-ful.

Reflecting again on how John Cale’s piano playing on Nick Drake’s “Northern Sky” is one of the single most moving things I’ve ever heard, and also how it's like the thirtieth most historical thing to occur over the course of his career in music. A remarkably passionate oracle. Truly no one like him.

One of my favorite kiddy books, The Mouse and His Child by Russell Hoban, has a great transformation of the main antagonist, Manny Rat, into a crusty member of the main characters' found family. There are several traumatic moments in the book but the ending is A+ stuff.
