A bit older eyes coloring #tutorial ✍️📝

Since I made it, I changed two things to my style:
1. I make lighter color blob inside of the iris, on the bottom.
2. Instead of a line of color on lashes I draw a little heart 💕

step by step guide to how I color eyes in my art style.
Text:
1. Let's start with the lineart! In my style the eyes are rather simple, since the whole artstyle is this way.
2. Now, let's start with the base color. To explain where I choose i from on the color wheel, I will include a colorless version of it here - this coloring guide works for any color you'd like to chose!
3. Create a new layer. The iris is quite big in this style and to color it I use a really deep, a little bit desaturated color similar to color of the base. It also looks nice if you use plain white instead!
4. Now, I make a layer between the base color ad the iris and draw a shape of egg in a color that is somewhere between the two used before. Note that this is the shape in which I also color in the shading of the white part.
5. With a much lighter and more saturated color I draw a blob of light on the lower part of the eye. I make sure it covers around 1/3 of the iris.
6. The the next step, I erase a little circle creating a shape very close to the top part of this highlight, like so:

1. That's it for coloring! Let's now add a small white highlight in the top part of the eye (it's okay if it touches the lines!) and color the lineart.
I like to add a touch of the lower highlight color to the lash line. It makes the eyes look more lively.
2. I use the color of the iris to color the whole line of the eye. Let's use this guide to see where each color is used.
3. Then, with the middle tone (the layer between the iris and base color) I color the line below the shaded area, like so:
4. Now, with the base eye color I color the line part that directly touches the bottom highlight.
5. I use the color of the saturated bottom highlight to make two small bits on the lineart: on the very bottom, and in te place where base color and shade are touching.
6. Now all that's left is to color the very edge of the lash line and the top lid with a muted reddish color.

It's done!

I'm never gonna tell a fledgling artist I don't like their work (if they want a critique on something specific, that's a different thing) because I want them to trust their own instincts more than my take. Developing that eye, with their own tastes and intention, is more important than my feedback.
