Still can't stop thinking about my lost wife Sylvia's little poem, written in a pad of paper I found in her car.

On LG Blvd
Another similar day
Nothing new
Blue sky, medium
traffic, hot sun
I’m lucky
To be here alive
& well & happy

Started thinking about Bill's 3Jane (=third clone of Jane) in Neuromancer. Haven't read it for 40 years. Loading up on the trilogy in Kindle! Cozy read for Thanksgiving. Photo of Bill at our Lynchburg, VA, house soon after he wrote it...

I'm in LA and will not be providing any socio-political commentary at this time, I will just say that Silver Lake is really giving Stoke Newington a real run for its money with these HALF-KILO bags of truffle-flavoured Torres crisps.

(The music player just served this one up to me and it was a reminder of just how great a debut album "Rickie Lee Jones" was.)

Cape Canaveral this evening in the last of the twilight. Seen as I was piloting a jet overhead at 16,000 feet. Launch complexes 39B, 39A, 41, 40, and 36 all show up bright as does the shuttle runway and the VAB. Beautiful night to fly.

thinking about forgotten computer sounds we no longer hear:

• the grinding noise of a defragmenting hard drive
• the BZWOMM of the monitor degauss button
• the squeal of an ejecting floppy drive
• the crackle of static as you switch off a CRT monitor
• the horrifying shriek of a dot matrix printer

This isn't quite the world I thought we were living in. I tell myself it's chaos. The world's like that. Things to up and down. And every morning I take the paper in my driveway and throw it in the trash. Like dog doo in a plastic wrapper. I get it, okay? Don't need to think about it every second.

The world’s natural processes are, if you’ll forgive an edifying interruption, impossible to predict. Breezes, rocking leaves, flowing water, your body, your mind¬—all of them equally complex, all of them chaotic. Chaos isn’t rare. It’s not a disease. It’s the norm. It’s health.

Writing tip. When you're writing a novel, and don't know what's going to happen, you might include scenes where characters discuss what they think will happen. And this is fine. Bu later, when you DO know what's going to happen, you delete such scenes. (But fine to add prefigurations.)
