Thinking back on my PhD in Set Theory, it's so funny. Set Theory is literally about nothing. See illo for INFINITY AND THE MND, drawn with Rapidograph pen in our Geneseo, NY, home, the very day I learned I was going to be fired from my first teaching job. But I knew infinity. So it didn't matter.

Great word: mojibake "the garbled or gibberish text from text being decoded by an unintended character encoding." Learned word while fixing mojibake in my 20-year-old Rudy's Blog with 1,200 posts, corrupted by recent a Word Press update. Rudy Jr saved the day. "You talkin' mojibake, dude."

Reading MOBY DICK today I came across a passage describing a jack-of-all-trades carpenger on the whaling ship...but I like to think of it as describing the way that an idealized creator might write or paint or photograph.

Dawn view at Tomales Bay Resort...out in nowhere. Paradise. What a change to drive home through 2 1/2 hours of traffic, esp on 19th. But I have this photo to treasure. Half the time, my camera is out of focus. Because I'm old, that's why. But here it doesn't matter...ahhh.

I can never believe how many separate steps are involved in a Kickstarter book release. It's all I've been doing for a month or two. Kind of like air travel. When I'm in a plane, I'm thinking, "I'll never do this again." But then ta-da, I'm somewhere I wanted to be. www.rudyrucker.com/sqinks/

Worrying about "tags" in the texts in my dialogs. Like 'he said' and 'she said'. When I read blocks of untagged dialogue, I can get confused about who's talking and it bugs me. I now tend to tag a lot, though some readers feel it slows things down, or is clutter.
