U.K. Bumbling & bemused but generally sound. I work for a union, lean to the left, love my classic soul, a good book, movies & good photos. Appreciate Byline as a news source. PS Plasters from granddaughter!

All “join the EU today or I’m voting against Labour” people NEED to read this.

And pay attention to it.
This is a fantastic piece and lays bare the tightrope that Starmer and the Labour government is walking.

I think the way Starmer is connecting to the EU, is spot on.

Please all ‘rejoin now’ merchants, please read this. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Keir Starmer’s realignment with Europe will be a low-key one
The aim in No 10 is to Make Brussels Boring Again and never say the words ‘single market’ or ‘freedom of movement’

🚨🚨 #brexit: This is perhaps the clearest signal so far from Keir Starmer's Labour government that they actually stake some of their political credibility of properly restoring the relationship with the EU. 🧵

A new deal with the EU is exactly what Britain needs. Here’s how Labour will achieve it | Nick Thomas-Symonds
This isn’t about politics – it’s about pragmatism. Working with our allies will make British people safer, more secure and more prosperous, says Nick Thomas-Symonds, minister for EU relations

Just to say, if like me your feed is alot of US politics to the exclusion of UK/Ireland accounts, then reposting content you like - even if it's just the picture of a beach - rather than just liking it, really works. My feed has improved (along with some judicious muting) immeasurably.

The £45bn cost of Labour bailing out RBS is held to be a once-in-a-generation economic calamity that the nation barely survived.

Brexit cost us just as much every five-and-a-half months.
