U.K. Bumbling & bemused but generally sound. I work for a union, lean to the left, love my classic soul, a good book, movies & good photos. Appreciate Byline as a news source. PS Plasters from granddaughter!
Ditto. We keep being advised to “get by off the price cap” but when you TRY to understand what’s going on and what to do we just get fleeced again. I’m so sick of these leeches and all privatised utilities …. NOTHING privatised has benefited its customers

Unfortunately the ERB that finally gets through Parliament will not be the ERB that was championed during the election. It’s being watered down bit by bit.

Agreed. We have to dismantle the entanglement we currently have with the US (Military bases/Five Eyes/Echelon etc.) as they have shown they cannot be trusted. Things are only just getting started over there. People think it’s just 47 saying 47 things - but he means them! Eg Won’t need to vote again!

Peter, whilst all these European leader posts are empathetic, they are running the risk of becoming the European version of the US “thoughts & prayers”. The US will now pull out of supporting in any way (tantrum) & unless EU fills the void financially and militarily Putin will grab more of Ukraine

I used “they” as a catchall but your point is taken. The issue is which uni is going to say “we’re not a good uni so we’re only going to charge £4k not £9250” … virtually all charged the maximum fees regardless of quality of teaching (and various amounts of actual contact time - value for money?)

Are you sure “worth” is the correct word? IMHO things started going wrong when they first put in student course fees (of course by a generation that didn’t have them) and then tripled to £9k a year believing that only top courses would charge that! The top level then squandered
