I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

At a Dead Kennedys show in Los Angeles in 1985, a white power punk walked up to me unexpectedly and said the next time he saw me, there would be blows. At a show in Reseda, he kept his promise. He swung on me and I swung back. Moments later, I realized I was not the only one. I found myself surrounded by other people, white and Asian kids from the San Fernando Valley. Kids I did not even know. They knew something that I was about to learn. It was not my fight; it was all of ours. No one else was coming to protect us. In 1986, I fled the big city mayhem for a better life. I followed my bandmates north to Eugene, Oregon.
