also featuring, the Berlin Archaeopteryx!

Discovered in 1874 it's often said to be the most beautiful and most complete and honestly, it's hard to argue with that. Genuinely breathtaking. 🦖🧪

Today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight is the Goldcrest! ✨

Our tiniest bird takes on an epic journey, with arrivals from northern Europe and Russia joining our resident birds in autumn.

Weighing just 5-6g, it’s incredible to think such a small bird can make it across the sea!

The Redwing steals the show in today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight! 🍂

Their rusty red flanks and soft ‘seep seep’ calls are a sure sign of autumn as flocks sweep in overnight from icy Scandinavia, Iceland and Russia.

Spot them enjoying berries in our fields and hedgerows.

Have you heard the nightjar’s eerie, engine-like “churr” this summer? These mysterious birds stir only at dusk, often heard but rarely seen. Spotting one is a magical moment - have you experienced it yet? 🐦✨
