Love this from @brunoleipold.com. In 1844-5 Engels was flirting w/ Fourierist/Owenist socialist communes.

"Marx, by comparison, never had any time for such small-scale experiments, & Engels would subsequently, partially under Marx's influence, abandon these earlier enthusiasms" (171).

This is something I have thought for a long time but I’m gonna say it:

African cartoonists are unmatched masters of their craft. They should have schools to teach everyone else.

Pure distilled essence of 1979-2025, here. I’m loaded and loving it but somehow I can never shake this mortal terror that somewhere, some poor wanker might be eating a free cheese sandwich.

Lorenzo de Medici’s pet giraffe used to wander 1480s Florence sticking its head in second story windows to be fed by excited neighbors (or eating their ribeye is herbs) and this is a great visual to help imagine it.

Congratulations to @brunoleipold.com and co! Important project on popular government, with Mamdani’s win only two days in the rear-view.
Can't say how thrilled I am that this grant will allow @welpita.bsky.social @uditbhatia.bsky.social and I to properly investigate popular government at a moment when representative governments are increasingly captured by oligarchic elites
Congratulations to @brunoleipold.com for securing a Synergy Grant from @erc.europa.eu! 👏🏽

Bruno will collaborate on a 6-year project titled the Popular Government in Global Perspective project, which seeks to challenge the way we think about #democracy.

Goodness. Closing beautifully with Vito Marcantonio: “If it be radicalism to believe that our natural resources should be used for the benefit of all, and not for the purpose of enriching just a few, then I plead guilty to the charge.”
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 5: Vito Marcantonio

There are many who dismiss our vision for New York as impossible. To them, I say we need look only to our past for proof of how we can shape the future.

Tomorrow is Election Day. And this is the final Until It's Done of our campaign.

I have to say, in the long history of “Marx failed to consider” takes by internet reply-guys, “Marx failed to consider the use-value of warm coats” should win its own category of award

I’ve also been experimenting with this this term and it’s crazy how much it immediately improves classroom discussion
Important update from two months into my “experiment” (lol) assigning college juniors and seniors to read whole physical books and then having a seminar where they use the physical book and physical notebooks and their ideas and questions to fill three hours of class time:

It rules

Amazing afternoon with @brunoleipold.com at our Politics, Philosophy and Economics seminar in the @uv.es

Great talk and debate about the invisible threads of economic domination in capitalism and the political institutions of the socialist republic.

Eternal thanks for everything, Citizen Leipold 😉
