NEW from me: a new report found that national resistance to data centers skyrocketed between March and June of this year—especially in red states like Georgia and Indiana:
The Data Center Resistance Has Arrived

my takeaway from this letter is that glenn youngkin, rector sheridan and their flunkies on the board are deeply dishonest people who are engaged, with the trump administration, in a mob-style shakedown against the university of virginia
Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ.

It's a surreal--and troubling--read.

Bingo. Both Ford and Carney benefit from a broken Canadian media environment.
Again, as an old PR, I'm struck by the disconnect between Carney's msging & his actions. His rhetoric appears to be about trying to look like a visionary, a nation-builder. We are supposed to be left with feelings of momentum & optimism. It's almost like an upmarket Doug Ford: Doing Stuff™ branding.

Abolish money. exchange value is a mirage and the necrotic tissue from which of exploitation and alienation fester
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

This makes sense: genAI, being built to generate stuff, replaces jobs in art and writing by generating slop art and slop writing. Many of us find its outputs repulsive, but companies don't seem to care.
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?
