Know what I hate most about the 80s, apart from Thatcher and a lot of other things related to that? Jackets with the sleeves rolled up. Where the hell did that come from and why did it stick around? Just horrible.

Stage one of the Christmas pudding build is complete, mostly. It's a recipe from an old cookbook that came with a Leisure gas cooker, looks like the 1960s, which I probably picked up in Manchester junk shop 45 plus years ago. The book, not the cooker, obviously. It calls for the mixture to be made

I made these yesterday. Highly recommended. Thankfully there's a 'Jump to recipe' button if all you want is to make them. There's a lot of butter in this, far more than in pastry, so she's right that "It will end up a bit like a paste". Worth it though. Mmmm.

I made these yesterday. Highly recommended. Thankfully there's a 'Jump to recipe' button if all you want is to make them. There's a lot of butter in this, far more than in pastry, so she's right that "It will end up a bit like a paste". Worth it though. Mmmm.

More banging and grinding outside today. I feel as if I'm living in a bloody shipyard. What's happening is that some of the stairs that lead up to the first floor apartments are being replaced, and this morning it was my turn. Thought I was going to be trapped on a day I need to go out and buy tea!
