conceding to far right ideas about the structure of society is conceding to a zero sum vision of the world, and more importantly giving voters a choice between two zero sum visions, where one is half hearted and the other is full throated. is it really a surprise then they choose the latter?

Like critical race theory, “gender ideology” is both a bogeyman for the right and a backlash to social progress.

The right’s gripe isn’t just that trans people exist, but that their existence is tearing down the old world—of good men and obedient women—and unleashing a new, godless age of chaos.
How the right uses "gender ideology" to blame trans people for everything
MAGA learned from global autocrats the language needed to push fear.

- no fascists

- no one who will let in fascists

For the Disability community, losing Alice Wong is like losing Ursula Le Guin or Octavia Butler. She was a powerhouse, a pioneer, and a mentor to many. She taught me so much. And always reminded me what we were fighting towards, as well as against. I miss her clarity, bravery, and joy.
Alice Wong
Alice Wong had an outsized impact on Disability justice. As a community organiser, activist, mentor, and co-conspirator, as writer, editor, and friend, she is irreplaceable.

Yep. So, we can either accept that all men* want to have sex with teens or we can make that a hideously uncomfortable feeling for those that do. It’s like normalizing all forms of non- consensual sex.
*obviously not all men, many men find the idea disgusting.
