This is the essential asymmetry of our time. One side escalates and incites for years (decades even, I remember Bush-era Republicans insinuating Democrats were on the side of the terrorists). Then when one of their own is the victim of that escalation...it becomes an excuse to escalate even further.
Before knowing all the facts, voices on the right are now exploiting the tragic death of Charlie Kirk & calling for all-out war on the left. This is sad, but not surprising, at a time when we should all be denouncing political violence. They were not so upset when Minn. Democrats were assassinated.

Reading Ovid’s Metamorphosis and wanted to share this bit where woman-turned-man (by the gods but still) Caeneus gets taunted and dead named by a centaur and promptly beats the centaur’s ass. Written circa 8 CE for the famously conservative Imperial Roman audience.
