last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far

i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')

D&C 134 is more important now than ever for #ChurchOfJesusChrist members. This administration is heading towards Christian Nationalism. It won't end well for us, or anyone really.

Doctrine and Covenants 134
A declaration of belief regarding governments and laws in general, adopted by unanimous vote at a general assembly of the Church held at Kirtland, Ohio, August 17, 1835. Many Saints gathered together ...

Can’t see any reason for sw engineers to choose Windows with this weird direction they are doubling down on

So odd because Microsoft has building dev tools in their DNA… their OS doesn’t look like anything a builder who wants OS control could choose

Mac or Linux it is for devs

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Now that the dust is settling on election results... I'm disappointed in Utah County. Not surprised, just disappointed.

Also, the Utah County Republican Party can kick rocks for making this normally non-partisan election, partisan.

I've been using Claude to help create a weight training routine. In my initial prompt, I told it that it specializes in creating programs for middle-aged men. Over time it's slowly convinced itself that it is ALSO a middle-aged man, and I laugh every time it says something like "old guys like us..."

There’s a new type of CSS scroll-state query coming: “scrolled”.

This one remembers the last direction you scrolled into, which you can use to build “hidey bars”: when scrolling down (or having scrolled down), the hidey bar hides itself. When then scrolling back up, the hidey bar reveals itself.

Seems like #Microsoft Family Safety stuff gets progressively worse every year. I doubt anyone is actively developing on it. The latest is I can't even put money on my kid's account for his game (it just fails). I hope it's just a blip.

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...

My nanny Bea told us the scariest story. Her nanny friend was at the park yesterday and a ton of Americans came running and yelled "RUN, RUN" as ICE was coming. Her friend needed to get her things for the baby, and another woman with her papers on her said, "I got all of it, GO."

inherit() is going to be absolutely huge for working with CSS custom properties. Two big things it'll enable:

Nested indentation:

--indent: calc(inherit(--indent, 0) + 1);

Overridable design token defaults:

--primary-color: inherit(--primary-color, blue);

The issue is devs using MacOS with hidden scrollbars.

If you're a web dev, your scrollbars need to be set to "always visible".
